Grant to Support Fire Safety Classes,The Boston Globe, 01/18/2014
“Local legislators announced this month that Wellesley has been awarded $7,704 for fire safety and prevention efforts. State Senators Richard Ross and Cynthia Stone Creem and Representative Alice Hanlon Peisch said the grant will fund the Student Awareness of Fire Education, or SAFE, program for this fiscal year. The program gives firefighters the resources to lead safety workshops in local schools and with senior citizens, teaching key lessons like the “stop, drop, and roll” technique. The state program, founded in 1995, has been credited with reducing child fire deaths by 70 percent, legislators said.”
