Senator Ross’ Statement on Inaccurate Reporting and Senate Bill 787

March 26, 2014

Boston – Senator Richard Ross (R-Wrentham) issued the following statement today regarding newly released reports on Senate Bill 787, An Act relative to divorce:

“Several reports and individuals have incorrectly stated that this petition was filed by request for Mr. Robert LeClair because of his status as a campaign donor. This statement is untrue. Mr. LeClair has never made a donation to any of my political campaigns. This information is a part of public record, and can be located through the Massachusetts Office of Campaign and Political Finance at http://www.efs.cpf.state.ma.us/. I maintain that my policy to submit all timely and appropriately filed free petitions is available to all constituents.

I remain deeply concerned by the blatantly false statements that have been released by several news outlets and individuals. This information could easily be verified by viewing public records that have been made available to the public online.

Once again, I believe in the democratic process and true representation of the people. State government belongs to every citizen of Massachusetts. As State Senator, I will continue to adhere to these ideals and to support the principles that the Commonwealth was built upon.”
