Wellesley 2nd Graders Have Clout On Beacon Hill: Groundhog Bill Moving Ahead,Wellesley Townsman, July 24, 2014
“The state senate voted last week to approve a bill that would name Ms. G, a groundhog that resides at Drumlin Farms in Lincoln, as the state’s first official groundhog. The vote, and a subsequent vote by the House of Representatives later this week, would send the Ms. G movement to the governor’s desk later this summer. Sen. Richard Ross, one of the sponsors of the bill, said that the Ms. G movement is both a good chance to bring young people into the legislative process and an opportunity to take a break from slightly more serious matters. ‘Every day it’s some pretty serious stuff,’ Ross said, specifically mentioning legislation around election law and gun control. ‘When you’re looking at those things all day it’s nice to have more of a reason to smile.’”
