Senator Ross Announces Workforce Training Grants

Boston – State Senator Richard Ross is pleased to announce grant funds for the Workforce Training Fund Program have been awarded to many local businesses for FY 2017. Three small businesses in the Senator’s district are receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars from the Baker-Polito Administration’s program for the purpose of training employees and adding jobs to their workforce.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy,“ said Senator Ross. “As a business owner myself, I understand the growing pains employers goes through. It is a priority of mine to advocate for the needs of our employers, so I am pleased to announce this funding to support them. Thank you to the Baker administrations Department of Labor and Workforce Development.”

The following businesses are receiving Workforce Training grants:

  1. Capstan Atlantic in Wrentham was awarded $136,450 to train 252 workers and anticipate adding 10 additional jobs by 2019.
  2. Environmental Health & Engineering, Inc. in Needham was awarded $243,600 to train 70 workers and anticipate adding 10 additional jobs by 2019.
  3. MAS Building & Bridge, Inc. in Norfolk was awarded $116,830 to train 38 workers and anticipate adding 10 additional jobs by 2019.

The program is a powerful tool to create new jobs, increase skills and opportunities for workers, and maintain the economic strength and viability of the Commonwealth’s businesses. The Workforce Training Fund helps companies improve productivity and competitiveness by providing resources to invest in the Massachusetts workforce.
