Small Business Spotlight: B. Fit Studios, Natick

October 26, 2016

On Monday, I had the privilege of visiting B. Fit Studios in Natick, for this week’s “Small Business Spotlight”. B. Fit is the only fitness studio in the area that caters specifically to children (ages 5+) and teens.

Owned by Kate Garabedian, a Natick resident, B. Fit Studios is determined to impact the lives of their clients through fitness, nutrition and stress management education. When they opened their doors in August, Kate knew her mission was to teach our youth a fun way to stay fit and be confident in who they are.

The B. Fit community provides an atmosphere where children can exercise in a fun and positive environment, without the pressure of being on a sports team. A big part of the training acknowledges and teaches the importance of appropriate effective physical fitness so that children can take it upon themselves to focus on their health later in life.

B. Fit Studios creates programs for all populations of children and teens and make appropriate, effective adjustments as their fitness improves. They also offer private training, sports team training and birthday parties.

Small Business Spotlight: Sousa & DeMayo, North Attleboro

Small Business Spotlight: Sousa & DeMayo, North Attleboro

September 15, 2016

Nearly 60 years ago, Louis and Roland Sousa along with Arthur DeMayo established a metal fabrication shop that is known today as Sousa & DeMayo in North Attleboro.

Sousa & DeMayo offers an extensive array of custom metal fabrication services, machining, and quality painting. Established in 1958, the company has built their reputation on dedicated customer service and first-rate quality products. From their management team to their dedicated 32 employees (many with over 20 years at the company), everyone at Sousa & DeMayo is committed to maintaining excellence throughout all their many services.

I spoke with owner Greg Hunter who has been managing the company since 2015. Mr. Hunter contributed over 30 years of mechanical engineering, operations and management experience to the facility when he acquired ownership. Under his leadership, Sousa & DeMayo is now able to take new projects from concept through fabrication, utilizing the latest in CAD/CAM technology.

Over the years the company has continued to grow and modernize, while adding more space for manufacturing and finishing as well as the addition of a machine shop. Striving for excellence and quality, the organization continues to provide expert and efficient solutions for all metal fabrication needs across the district.

Small Business Spotlight: Simon’s Furniture, Franklin

I had the pleasure of meeting with both Kirk and Jared Simon, the father-son duo of Simon’s Furniture in Franklin. Originally named Simon and Sons, Inc., Kirk’s grandfather started the company in 1911. Since then, five generations of the Simon family have upheld the company’s promise to focus on high quality furniture with an affordable price.

In 1993, the company relocated to their current location in Franklin where they constructed a new addition to the business. The Simons employ about 20 employees and hold high standards when it comes to exceptional customer service. Simon’s Furniture also takes great pride in the fact that 85% of the furniture they sell is made in America.

Simon’s Furniture is a great place to purchase quality home furnishings with incomparable personal service, and I would recommend anyone in the area to visit their store.
